How to Spend a Week in Amsterdam

Last updated Jan 06, 2026

Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most exciting cities. A place where creativity, culture, and canals flow together effortlessly. And with our new Wilde in Amsterdam, you’ve got the perfect base to experience it all.

In line with Amsterdam city regulations, our Wilde in Amsterdam accepts bookings for a minimum stay of seven consecutive nights. That means you have a whole week to fully immerse yourself in the city… to stroll its leafy parks, taste its world-class food, explore its artistic treasures, and get to know both the buzzing centre and the cool, creative vibe of Amsterdam.

Here’s how to make the most of your week in the Dutch capital.

Day 1: Arrival & Exploring Amsterdam

After checking into Wilde, take a short walk to the A’DAM Tower, just five minutes from your door. Head up to the rooftop for panoramic city views - it’s the perfect way to get your bearings and watch the sunset over the IJ River.

Spend the evening exploring Amsterdam Noord, one of the city’s most exciting neighbourhoods. Its riverside restaurants, cafés, and bars are packed with character. The perfect way to ease into your Amsterdam adventure.

Day 2: Canals, Culture & City Centre Highlights

Hop on the free ferry to Amsterdam Centraal and start your exploration of the historic city centre. Wander the canal belt, pop into the art galleries lining Herengracht, and get lost in the charming Jordaan neighbourhood.

When hunger strikes, stop for lunch at Café Winkel 43, famous for its legendary Dutch apple pie, or enjoy a light meal at The Pancake Bakery near the Anne Frank House.

Spend the afternoon on a canal cruise, the most scenic way to experience Amsterdam’s history. In the evening, return to Noord for dinner with a view. Hangar Amsterdam is a stylish waterfront restaurant offering European classics and cocktails beside the IJ.

Day 3: Markets & Local Life in De Pijp

Today’s all about food, shopping, and street life. Head to De Pijp to explore the Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and liveliest in the city. Sample local cheeses, try fresh stroopwafels straight from the griddle, and browse the colourful stalls for souvenirs and gifts.

Afterwards, wander through De Pijp’s cool side streets filled with independent shops. Stop by Anna + Nina for delicate jewellery and home décor, or Hutspot for Dutch design and fashion.

For lunch, grab a table at Bakers & Roasters, a Kiwi-Brazilian brunch favourite known for its excellent coffee. In the evening, De Pijp’s restaurant scene really shines. Try The Seafood Bar for beautifully prepared fresh fish in a bright, modern space.

Day 4: Museums, Parks & Dining at De Kas

Spend your morning soaking up culture in Amsterdam’s Museumplein, home to the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Stedelijk Museum. Each offers a unique glimpse into Dutch art and creativity.

After your museum visits, unwind with a walk or cycle through Vondelpark, the city’s best-known green oasis.

For dinner, make your way to De Kas, an unforgettable dining experience set in a converted greenhouse in Amsterdam East. The restaurant’s dishes are made from ingredients grown on-site or sourced from local farms - fresh, seasonal, and beautifully presented. It’s a true highlight of any Amsterdam stay, so be sure to book in advance.

Day 5: The Creative Side of Noord

Stay close to your hotel today and dive deeper into Amsterdam Noord. Start with a stroll through Noorderpark, then head to NDSM Wharf, a once-industrial shipyard turned creative hub. Here, you’ll find colourful street art, studios, pop-up galleries, and quirky cafés set against an urban, waterfront backdrop.

For lunch, head to IJver, a stylish industrial-chic bistro within NDSM, or Noorderlicht Café, where you can dine among art installations with live music on weekends.

Spend your afternoon browsing the area’s pop-up shops or taking a ferry ride along the IJ. In the evening, dine at Coba Taqueria, an elevated Mexican restaurant that’s become one of Noord’s most talked-about spots.

Day 6: Shopping, Sunsets & Rooftop Views

Spend your final full day shopping and sightseeing at your own pace. Return to De Negen Straatjes (The Nine Streets) for boutique stores, design shops, and one-of-a-kind souvenirs.

In the afternoon, take one last stroll or canal cruise, then make your way back to A’DAM Tower for sunset. You can even brave the ‘Over the Edge’ swing for a thrill and unbeatable views.

Finish your evening nearby with dinner at Moon, the revolving fine-dining restaurant at the top of the tower, or at The Butcher Social Club for gourmet burgers and river views.
